An opening will soon become available at Oamaru Hospital for a permanent Full Time Rural Hospital Medicine Specialist Clinical Leader. The Rural Hospital Medicine position encompasses the new scope of practice of rural hospital medicine which is recognised by the Medical Council of New Zealand. The appointee will be a member of focussed interdisciplinary teams of health professionals providing a range of medical, health care of the elderly and emergency / urgent care.

Oamaru Hospital provides a comprehensive range of services; general & acute medical and rehabilitation inpatient, level 2 emergency department, maternity, mobile surgical services, and a range of outpatient and community services.  Diagnostic support services include Laboratory Services, CT and US Scanning and Digital Radiography.  The hospital is accredited for the Rural Hospital/Medical Training Programme.

We also have a vacancy coming up for a full time and part time medical officer positions, and would welcome applications from doctors who have RHM/FACEM qualifications or who have an interest and experience in rural hospital/emergency medicine to join the team.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST


We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our small friendly team.
Based in the Occupational Therapy Department at Oamaru Hospital you will have the opportunity to enjoy life in a rural commnity.  Oamaru is ideally situated for exploring and enjoying the lifestyle the South Island has to offer.
Full time Occupational Therapist with responsibilities for clients in hospital, as well as those living in Oamaru and in the outlying rural areas.  You will work as a member of the wider community services team, your main responsibilities being assessment for equipment and housing modifications.  An opportunity is also provided to undertake pre-operative assessments and work with clients attending the Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation services.
This position requires applicants to possess excellent communication skills along with relevant post grad experience, NZ registration and current Practicing Certificate and a full driver's license.

Oamaru Hospital has a vacancy for a Medical Radiation Technologist Position 
The Hospital has a 30 bed Acute Medical/AT&R Ward, 24/7 Emergency Department cover, Maternity and a large Outpatient Clinic Service.
The ideal appointee will be a person who possesses a minimum of 1 year experience in Plain Film Radiography
Post graduate qualification/experience in CT Scanning would be desirable but not essential
The Oamaru Hospital Radiology Department has the following equipment:

SOCIAL WORKER/NEEDS ASSESSOR
 

A position has become available for a Social Worker/Needs Assessor at Oamaru Hospital.
The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a team providing social work services to inpatients and people in the community, as well as Needs Assessment for older people in the Waitaki District.
This position is a part time 0.6 FTE position (24 hours per week).
The appointee should hold a professional Social Work qualification.  A person with experience of working with the older people in a health service would be preferred.

SONOGRAPHER


This is an exciting opportunity for a person passionate about Ultrasound. If you are looking for a new challenge and interesting change then this may be the job for you.  Oamaru provides great opportunity for lifestyle change and is close to amazing recreational activities including ski fields, walking tracks, lakes, rivers and the sea.

The Ultrasound service at Oamaru Hospital recently acquired a new GE Logiq E9 Machine and provides a variety of general ultrasound, obstetric and small parts imaging to the inpatient, outpatient and primary referred patients. We service a large catchment area and are exposed to lots of different pathologies and interesting cases.
Musculoskeletal and Vascular Scanning skills would be highly regarded.
The Oamaru Hospital Radiology Department also operates a CT Scanner and CR Imaging and is fully digital.

You must have:
- registration with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board
- a current practising certificate within the specific scope of practice required for the position
- a Diploma in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent post graduate recognised sonography qualification
- a high level of technical skills
- excellent communication skills
- a strong professional judgement
- good people skills and team work approach.

The successful candidate, if able to also operate in CR and CT modalities, will be required to participate with the on-call roster.
